Background: Jeff Mims has served our nation, the city of Dayton, and its families selflessly for decades. He is a U.S. Air Force Vietnam War Veteran, a former teacher and member of the Dayton school board, and before Mayor served as Dayton City Commissioner. Since 2014 Jeff worked in collaboration with the Mayor and fellow Commissioners to manage the growth and safety of the City while improving the quality of life for its citizens. On January 11th, 2021, surrounded by family, friends, elected officials, and community leaders Commissioner Jeffrey Mims Jr announced that he would not be running for re-election. With an abundance of public service experience and a vision for the future, Jeff Mims announced that he was instead running for Mayor of Dayton. ElevateX Agency was hired by his campaign as his digital marketing team to help Jeff Mims win the 2021 Dayton Mayoral election.
Challenge: It was ElevateX Agency’s job to help the Jeffrey Mims Mayoral Campaign best communicate his leadership ability and experience through the development of his campaign branding, website, custom daily social media content, custom-branded email marketing campaigns, event flyers, and branded marketing collateral. Our support with his mission was imperative, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic exasperated and escalated the need for Jeff’s digital communications to be more impactful than ever before.
Our Solution: The ElevateX Agency team worked alongside the Dayton Democratic Party, Jeffrey Mims For Dayton campaign manager, political strategists, fundraising manager, and voter coordination team to help carefully craft a custom digital branded logo, brand voice, and digital essence for the campaign. We then translated his campaign’s priorities, mission, goals, and objectives into intentional digital image, video, written, and interactive content. That content was also created with his target audience’s user personas in mind and was distributed across email, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter with daily precision. We also translated the Mims For Dayton Campaign’s brand essence into a website that served as the digital headquarters for the campaign to help register voters, volunteers, and capture over $100,000 in campaign donations throughout it’s six-month voter engagement period. Through our digital efforts, we helped Jeffrey Mims capture 67% of the Dayton votes while his opponent only captured 33%. In the end, our digital strategy helped Jeff win and become the first African American to be elected as mayor of Dayton Ohio in over ten years.
