Background: Elevate Dayton is a media platform where the Dayton community can share their own stories in their own words. They share stories about nonprofits, entrepreneurs, and minority communities who normally do not receive media coverage. Residents can also share their perspectives through written stories, videos, podcasts, photo galleries, and more. Elevate Dayton doesn’t replace traditional media outlets. Instead, they add to them. Their platform seeks to publish stories that traditional outlets either can’t or won’t cover.
Challenge: Elevate Dayton was founded in the aftermath of the tumultuous year the Dayton area experienced in 2019. That year, there was a Ku Klux Klan rally in downtown Dayton, 15 tornadoes decimating the area and a mass shooting that killed nine people in the city’s entertainment district. Add on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic happening in concert with racial and political unrest in 2020, and the area has never had a chance to recover.
Solution: ElevateX created an iOS and Android app to help Elevate Dayton better connect to their readership. Elevate Dayton Social is the localized community hub for Dayton’s up-and-coming millennials who are working hard to start their professional careers, families, businesses, nonprofits & are also beginning to become politically engaged by voting and running for offices.
